NEW YORK and ATHENS, Greece, Nov. 6, 2026
- Kos joins Sutter Hill Ventures and other leading investors in backing Fathom Therapeutics’s pioneering physics- and AI-powered drug discovery platform
NEW YORK and ATHENS, Greece, Nov. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Kos Biotechnology Partners (“Kos”), a global life sciences investment firm bridging the U.S. and European biopharma ecosystems, today announced its investment in Fathom Therapeutics, a leading drug design company pioneering the application of quantum chemistry, physics-based molecular simulations, and artificial intelligence to discover and develop next-generation small molecule medicines.
The investment was made through Kos BioVentures, the firm’s inaugural life sciences fund, as part of Fathom Therapeutics’s Series A financing. Sutter Hill Ventures led the oversubscribed $55 million financing, along with other leading investors.
Fathom Therapeutics was founded by a team of world-renowned computational scientists, led by Chief Executive Officer Dr. Huafeng Xu, a pioneer in the field of computational drug design. The company is developing a new paradigm for drug discovery through its proprietary Microcosmos platform, which combines advanced physics-based simulations and AI to predict how proteins move and interact with drug molecules at atomic resolution.
“Fathom Therapeutics possesses industry-leading expertise in two of the most crucial areas in next-generation drug discovery: quantum chemistry and artificial intelligence,” said Dr. Simos Simeonidis, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Kos Biotechnology Partners. “The ability to model molecular interactions with unprecedented speed and precision has the potential to fundamentally change how we discover medicines, particularly against biological targets that have historically been considered undruggable. We are very excited to invest in Huafeng and his truly exceptional team, alongside a distinguished group of investors, to help advance this groundbreaking technology and translate its potential into meaningful therapeutic breakthroughs for patients.”
“We welcome Simos, Alex and the deeply experienced Kos team to our syndicate of investors, and we are looking forward to working with them as we push forward with our mission to develop innovative therapeutics,” said Dr. Huafeng Xu, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Fathom Therapeutics.
“The next generation of biopharmaceutical innovation will increasingly emerge from the intersection of computational science, AI, and experimental biology,” said Alex Tzoukas, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Kos Biotechnology Partners. “Fathom Therapeutics has assembled a world-class team with deep expertise in molecular simulation and drug discovery, supported by a platform that has already demonstrated compelling early results. Our investment reflects Kos’s conviction that differentiated technologies that improve drug discovery productivity and address previously inaccessible targets can create significant value for patients and investors alike. We look forward to supporting Fathom Therapeutics as it scales its platform, advances its internal pipeline, and expands its strategic partnerships.”
In addition to Huafeng Xu, PhD, Fathom Therapeutics was co-founded by Yujie Wu, PhD, Chief Technology Officer, and Jesús Izaguirre, PhD, Chief Computational Scientist. The team’s pioneering work spans molecular simulation, computational chemistry, and drug discovery, and includes the scientists behind the Anton supercomputer and widely adopted computational methods for predicting protein-drug interactions. The broader leadership team brings significant drug development experience.
The investment further strengthens Kos’s portfolio of innovative life sciences companies and reinforces its strategy of supporting breakthrough therapeutic technologies, differentiated drug discovery platforms, and globally competitive biopharmaceutical businesses.
